Timing and charges:
Timing : 9.00am to 11.00 am, 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm; Entrance fee: Rs50 boating fees Rs30 to witness bathing of elephants Rs200
We took the tickets for boating and witness the bathing of elephants. We waited for the ferry. The elephant camp is on the other side of the shore.
There were around 15 people including us in the ferry. For elderly and for differently abled it would be difficult for them to board or get down from the ferry.
Water (river kavery) was looking muddy because of the frequent boat trips. We were little scared at first but once we settled we started enjoying the ride.
There are two to three ferries making back and forth trip. Before we entered the camp itself we got to witness the bathing of elephant. The mahout was pouring water over the elephant and scrubbing it quite vigorously. We could see the elephant being so obedient throughout the entire process.
Elephant park :
There is a garden path to reach the camp.
As we entered we saw a shed where few elephants were standing along with their mahouts.
We walked down further it was quite refreshing to see all the elephants roaming around freely and so close to nature. There is a wooden fence hence it is completely safe for the public.
Small elephants especially were really cute to watch.
We took a stroll towards the end of the park and while returning we saw the elephant which was taking bath earlier. It was super clean compared to the rest of the elephants there 🙂 Its majestic walk was certainly a sight to behold.
Luxurious rooms and cottages, camping, rafting etc are also available. We took the ferry again and reached the other side. This is a good family getaway spot from the bustling city life.
